Nowadays in books and plays, it's just a theatrical fashion but I haven't a moment to cultivate a passion. Well, look at my Mondays---an average day--the glee club, the Met, the Y.M.C.A. The Goldscheider ceramics, my dear I near panic. I frequently lecture, with slides and I'm Colonel-in-Chief of the guides. Whoever heard of Goldscheider in the first place? Well, indulge your passion for culture, here's your chance to see the beautiful ceramic statues of l920's Art Deco women lent for display by Kathryn Hausman, president of ADSNY New York's Art Deco Society. Rendered in exquisite colors and costumes the statues reflect the history of an age when the Goldscheider Manufactory was the leading international ceramics producer in Paris, Vienna and Florence. Just when I was trying to keep it mum Barbie has the nerve to reveal her age. Yes, she's a hot 50 and still wearing miniskirts and driving a corvette and let me "dish the dirt," she just had her lst ever FASHION WEEK SHOW under the white tents in Bryant Park. All the Barbie cognoscenti were there, but where were You? Bloomingdale's has it all: the 10 windows dressed in her honor, the second floor Barbie boutique with "Collectible Dolls" accessories and apparel, and the third floor with the largest display of vintage Barbie dolls ever. Feel your passion; stamp your feet the annual Flamenco Festival has stampeded into town with artists from Andalusia, Spain including the famous Isabel Bayon Company. A celebrated Flamenco dancer Bayon was accompanied by the voices of soulfully wailing, the most profound expression in the "cante jondo" deep song, clapping hands and pounding feet to the Spanish rhythms of the onstage musicians. The Antonio Gades Company performs "Carmen" at City Center on Thurs. Feb. 19th at 7:30pm and Friday Feb. 20th at 8pm. OLE!!! Light up your imagination and visit the Cooper-Hewitt where the exhibit "Lighting New York, 1895-1946" sheds some illumination on the Edward F. Caldwell Company, the premiere designer and manufacturer of electric light fixtures and decorative metalwork from the late l9th to the mid-20th centuries. On Sat. Feb. 28th Margaret Caldwell, the great granddaughter of Caldwell will talk about he firm's craftsmanship and the importance of the decorative arts world.
